Only 26% of your team are aligned on your product.

Why your product needs a narrative

Aligning Internally. Winning Externally

Before every storytelling workshop, I ask teams a simple set of questions:

  • What value does your product create?

  • Who cares most about that value?

  • How can you prove that value?

The collected answers are always eye-opening. On average, only 26% of team members give aligned answers.

That means 74% of the people closest to the product are telling different stories about it.

And here’s the bigger problem:
👉 If your own team can’t agree, how can you expect prospects, partners, or even customers to understand it?

Misalignment inside the company leads to confusion outside of it. It makes sales harder, messaging weaker, and marketing less effective.

Why it matters
In B2B technical products especially, clarity is currency. Complex products need simple, consistent narratives to win trust and persuade buyers. Without alignment, you don’t have a product story — you just have noise.

Because if your team isn’t aligned at 100%, you’ll never hit 100% outside.

What to do about it

A great start to do a sense check on your current alignment. Send a survey with three questions around your team. Want the survey template link? Just respond to this email..

Need help?

This is exactly why I run product storytelling workshops. They exist to get everyone aligned on a single, unshakable narrative — so marketing leads can confidently scale that story into the market.
